PAINTING PLACES with ACRYLIC PAINT with Leighton Lancaster


FOUR PART SERIES on Wednesdays, April 24th, May 8th, 15th, & 22nd, 10:00am-12:00pm, Advanced Registration Required

$150 Class Fee plus $15 Materials Fee

Come join Leighton as she demonstrates how to paint places, whether a landscape, beach scene, or building, that has meaning to you. She will show you how to use value, texture, and brush strokes to create different areas to transform a photo into a painting by your hand.

**Participants should be ready to submit two or three photos of a place/places that have meaning to them about a week before the first class. Paintings will be completed on canvases no larger than 12 inches in width or length due to the time length of the class. All materials will be provided!

April 24th: Introduction and grid drawing of photograph.

  • Students will learn how to grid and draw their photographed location on a 12 inch by 12 inch gallery canvas.

May 1st: NO class (not part of the series)

May 8th: Review color theory, value, and strokes. Begin painting.

  • Leighton will review ways to use light, value, and brush strokes through paint to give the illusion of form and depth, She will help students start to fill in their painting one section a time.

May 15th and 22nd: Continue painting and complete!

  • Students will paint along side each other with guidance from Leighton.
