FOUR PART SERIES in Studio A

Tuesdays, April 30th, May 7th, 14th & 21st, 1:00-3:00pm, Registration Required

Class Fee ($200/series or $50/single )+ Materials Fee ($20)

Intro. to Watercolor is the first step on a lifelong journey of creative expression and joy. This foundational class covers the basics that are needed to begin watercolor painting. You will learn the theories and do the practice necessary to continue producing high quality paintings long after you have finished this class. Learning to watercolor is a gift that brings continual growth as an artist. Your teacher will guide you as you acquire the language and skills necessary to be a watercolorist.

Day 1: Materials, Color Wheel, Value Scale, Color Theory, History of Watercolor, Practice Basic Techniques, Create a small painting

Day 2: Painting Styles, Transparent Layering, Brush Work Exercises, More on Color, Tonal Study, Create a Painting

Day 3: Basics of Composition, Drawing Media, Working from Life, Working from photographs, Create a painting

Day 4: Continue working on watercolor projects

Elizabeth has painted with watercolor since she was a child. At Watkins College of Art she taught Beginning and Intermediate Watercolor workshops for thee years for the Adult Community Education program. For 14 years, she worked full-time as a corporate art consultant. She has a Masters degree in the Art of Teaching. Her paintings are in private and public collections.  

This class requires at least 3 registrants to make.  If it does not make, we will adjust the time to reflect a private/semi private lesson option or you can choose a full refund.
