WATERCOLOR BRUSH TECHNIQUES with Sarah Arace

Welcome to watercolor! This class is for beginners who will be introduced to different kinds of paper, paints, brushes, and techniques of the world of watercolor. Participants will take away two watercolor brushes and a lot of new knowledge to practice with at home.
NASHVILLE SKYLINE ACRYLIC PAINTING with Douglas Charlton
Thursday, October 18th, November 7th, or December 13th, 6:30-9pm, Advance Registration Required
For this workshop, Douglas will direct you through his process applying acrylic on wood to create your very own original Nashville skyline. This class is perfect for beginners and pros! Participants can brainstorm a color scheme to match a room in their house, or create a painting for a friend, or just wing it! It is about the process not necessarily the product though participants always leave happy. Paintings are completed on a hand built oak base around 10x22.

Students will Choose between several different simple artistic play choices: painting with rocks and marble rolling, paper marbeling, clay, and free easel painting. Activites are not designed to create a perfect finished product, but for a relaxed self-expression of free play in a fun environment.
SOFT PASTEL LANDSCAPES with Sarah Arace

This colorful class is for the beginners to intermediate artists interested in working with soft pastels. Participants will review the basics for landscape design and learn more in depth about layering techniques. Participants will leave with one (possibility two) finished landscapes. It can be anything from a winter wonderland to a deserted tropical island.

Encaustics are an ancient art form from the Egyptians that incorporates warm beeswax with added pigment to create an image mainly on a wood surface.Artist and co-owner of Little Art House, Leighton Lancaster, will show you how to use this amazing medium. After painting, you can transfer images onto the surface to create a finished piece.

Each person will create their own painting though we recommend working together in deciding a color palette so the paintings complement each other. It will be a night filled with fun and learning, no previous calligraphy experience is needed. My goal is to inspire you to use the concepts you learn in this class to add flare to your next party, holiday cards, crafting, gifting and more!
BRUSH LETTERING with Molly Margaret

Come explore the world of brush lettering! In this class we will look at the many lettering effects and styles you can achieve using brushes and brush markers. We will cover a full brush alphabet, letter variations from edgy to flowy and a few basic illustration examples using a brush. Using a wide range of markers you'll create new letter forms with ease.

In this series, you will review drawing from life, utilizing a grid for drawing from an photo reference and/or adding value and marks to create form. Join artist and co-owner of Little Art House, Leighton Lancaster, as she shows how to memorialize a special place as a painting. A couple of years ago, Leighton decided to paint her childhood home in an effort to find her creative voice again. From there, she hasn't stopped painting first homes, wedding venues, and more for close family and friends. This class is perfect for those artists who would like to learn how to give the illusion of a detailed, realistic painting through the use of value, light, and brush strokes.
