NASHVILLE SKYLINE ACRYLIC PAINTING with Douglas Charlton
Thursday, July 19th, August 16th, September 13th, and October 18th, 6:30-9pm, Advance Registration Required
For this workshop, Douglas will direct you through his process applying acrylic on wood to create your very own original Nashville skyline. This class is perfect for beginners and pros! Participants can brainstorm a color scheme to match a room in their house, or create a painting for a friend, or just wing it! It is about the process not necessarily the product though participants always leave happy. Paintings are completed on a hand built oak base around 10x22.

Who doesn't love a good face? Great for any artist level. Start with a stick figure and work your way to abstract! In this class you will focus on faces and leave with your own unique painting.
PET PORTRAITS IN WATERCOLOR with Sarah Arace
SERIES on Tuesdays, August 7th, 14th, 21st, 6:30-9:00pm
For this series, Sarah will help attendees create and perfect a beautiful rendering of their pet (or someone else's!). Attendees will send in a high resolution photo of a pet which she will sketch out on 9x12 HOT PRESSED paper (so no drawing required!). Sarah will also pre-pick a colorpalette for each pet depending on the participant's preferences and what is best suited for that best.
LINOLEUM PRINTMAKING, ALL LEVELS with Emma Bradford

Have you ever thought about making your own stamps? In this class you’ll learn how to design and cut your own linoleum plate to print on paper or a tea cloth. Whether your experienced or new to printmaking, this is sure to be a fun class and you’ll walk away with knowledge that you can continue to create at home!

INDIGO AND SHIBORI DYEING with Aaron Head

Join Aaron Head, Nashville-based visual artist, for an introduction to Indigo and Shibori workshop. Participants will learn basics of tajime, or shape resist, shibori dyeing. Materials will be provided. Students will leave with dyed cotton fabric and a dyed linen scarf, along with a handout detailing the dye process.
EN PLEIN AIR WATERCOLOR in Columbia, TN with Emma Bradford & Leighton Lancaster

Come join sisters, Emma Bradford and Leighton Lancaster from Little Art House, Nashville, as they demonstrate how to use watercolor to capture the beauty of nature around us. This class will take place in the gardens at the President James K. Polk Home and Museum, Columbia, TN in the En Plein Air style. Participants will learn basic watercolor techniques and observational skills to create a few sketches of the beautiful garden. They look forward to creating with you!
CONTOUR DRAWING: PEOPLE, PLACES, AND THINGS with Meg Marano

This class will explore blind and modified contour drawing to create a self portrait using these techniques and watercolors. Leave with your own original piece of work and a sketchbook and materials to continue to practice.
Introduction to Book Making with Molly Margaret

Finding the perfect notebook, journal or sketchbook can be a challenge but it doesn’t have to be! Come learn how to create a book of your very own design and size in just over an hour. Participants will choose from a variety of hand marbleized paper by Molly, her Molly Marbles line (as seen on Instagram under Markerette) as their book cover paper.
BIRDS IN WATERCOLOR with Sarah Arace

Enjoy an evening of experimentation and fun while you learn the fundamentals of watercolor and create some of your favorite birds. From the fluttering hummingbird to the wise owl we will be exploring and developing creativity. This is a beginner friendly class and you will will take home a couple finished small paintings.

Encaustics are an ancient art form from the Egyptians that incorporates warm beeswax with added pigment to create an image mainly on a wood surface. Items may be imbedded between the layers of wax and images transferred onto the surface to create a finished painting.
BRUSH LETTERING with Molly Margaret

Come explore the world of brush lettering! In this class we will look at the many lettering effects and styles you can achieve using brushes and brush markers. We will cover a full brush alphabet, letter variations from edgy to flowy and a few basic illustration examples using a brush. Using a wide range of markers you'll create new letter forms with ease.
MODERN CALLIGRAPHY with Molly Margaret

Whether you’ve taken a calligraphy class before or never picked up a pen and ink this class is designed to inspire you to get creative at all skill levels. It will be a night filled with fun and learning, no previous calligraphy experience is needed. My goal is to inspire you to use the concepts you learn in this class to add flare to your next party, holiday cards, crafting, gifting and more!

If you are interested in brushing up or learning drawing techniques for the first time, this class is for you! This class is great for beginners or artists who are a little out of practice to learn a few drawing techniques that are helpful for other areas of art making as well.

Bring your creativity and imagination and explore the varied techniques of Mixed Media art. This three session class will explore the basics texture, transfers and alternative materials and the use of painting media to create personalized works of Art. All skill levels welcome.
